The 2017 edition of Odessa Fair Poulty Show was held on July 15th and 16th in the KDPPSA building at the Odessa Fairgrounds. The weather for the show was warm, but not too hot, and we were lucky that the rain held off until after coop-out. Our judges for the show were Dave Walsh on poultry and waterfowl, and Joe Bell on pigeons and rabbits.
The show featured 243 entries from 16 exhibitors, 8 of whom were juniors. Entries included 35 large fowl, 96 bantam poultry, 42 pigeons, 57 waterfowl, and 5 turkeys. Strong classes included large fowl brahmas and rhode island reds; bantam games, brahmas, and cochins; runner and muscovy ducks; and rollers, homers, and pouters in pigeons.
The KDPPSA would like to thank Willows Agriservices for donating the feed and shavings used in the show, and to our partners at the Odessa Agricultural Society for sponsoring the prize money, ribbons, and rosettes. Special thanks to our exhibitors and judges for making our show a success; to Bill Harrison for his usual excellent job as show chair; and to Bill Godkin, Dale Baker, Chris Bos, Brad Snider, and the Crawford family for their help in setting up and running the show.
